Overview:

Geoff McClelland has 25 years experience in the Australian Information Technology and Telecommunications (IT&T) industry. Prior to jointly establishing CFOS in 1993, Geoff was employed in various senior technical, research and development, strategic marketing and corporate planning roles for Telecom Australia (1974-82), Esso Australia Ltd (1982-8) and NEC Information Systems Australia Pty Ltd (1988-93). Geoff has been involved in many of Australia's most important standardisation initiatives especially in the open systems arenas. He is recognised as one of Australia's leading e-Business practitioners from both a business and a technology perspective and has spoken at, keynoted, chaired and hosted numerous conferences and workshops in IT&T both in Australia and overseas.

Overview:

Michael has 15 years experience in the architecture and deployment of distributed systems. Prior to joining CFOS, Michael was employed in senior technology management and design roles within both the vendor and private industry environment. These positions included some 7 years within Digital Equipment Corporation and senior technology planning and management roles within the Australian Stock Exchange.

A strong technical foundation underpins Michael's skill in mapping the capabilities of distributed systems to the key business objectives of the client. This capability has been demonstrated in such projects as analysis and evaluation of exchange systems for trading clearing and settlement processes, the design and implementation of a network design quality audit program within a major systems integrator, the concept, design and deployment of a technical certification program within a leading computer vendor, the technical architecture for a major Australian and New Zealand Library network and the design and implementation of service level agreements in the finance industry. The definition and detailed design of the ASX Strategic Blueprint and the development of a strategy and technical architecture for a coherent electronic commerce strategy in the securities industry, are further examples of the manner in which Michael approaches the use of technology as a key strategic tool.

Overview:

Geoffrey Reynolds has an outstanding career of 25 years' experience specialising in information technology in the financial services sector. For the last 12 years, Geoffrey has provided advice in strategic planning and project management to the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). This has included:

  • management of major redevelopments of the ASX's internet site - ASX ShareNet (1996/7/8);
  • management of a five year business strategy review for the Office of the Managing Director (1995);
  • management of two major information systems' strategy reviews (1986/87 and (1994/95). The 1986/87 review was granted a National Award for Excellence in Information Technology;
  • acting as head consultant in the preparation of the business case for the landmark CHESS system (1991).
During 1997 Geoffrey was retained by the AMP Society to assist it with various matters to do with its demutualisation. In February 1998, Geoffrey provided key input to a KPMG (Zurich) business strategy for the Vienna Stock Exchange.

During 1998 and 1999, the Dairy Farm Group, a Hong-Kong based Fortune-500 company specialising in retail operations, retained Geoffrey to assist with the project management of 3 internet/e-commerce applications.

During the first half of 1999, Geoffrey was a major contributor to developing a strategic technical plan for a leading Asian Stock Exchange.

Geoffrey is currently advising a major Australian telecommunications company on potential investment opportunities in the financial services sector, and preparing a technical plan for a major Australian commodity exchange.

John has over 21 years experience in the design and implementation of large corporate computer systems. As a principal consultant with Logica (1985-91), John gained experience of Government, financial, utilities and manufacturing sectors in Australia, Britain, Europe and the USA.

Since jointly founding the Centre For Open Systems in 1993, John's primary focus has been in the deployment of distributed computer systems and networks for the Telecommunications industry in Australia. John currently represents the Network Management Forum in Australia and represents the NMF on working groups of the Telecommunications Network Interworking Industry Forum (NIIF). The NIIF is responsible for developing the Industry Codes of Practice for the de-regulated telecommunications market in July 1997.

A critical aspect of this work is the development of a suitable computing and communications architecture that all service providers will adhere to.
